How to prepare for a trade test.
For technical roles, the trade test is where the employer decides. Here is what to expect and how to walk in ready.

European employers don't hire from a CV. They want to see the skill. A trade test is run to the employer's own standard, often with the employer or their inspector present, in the Philippines. It protects you too — you go abroad knowing you match the job.
What to expect by role
- Welders: practical coupon in the required process and position; visual inspection, sometimes bend or cut test.
- Drivers: practical driving assessment, vehicle checks, sometimes a theory part on rules and safety.
- Machinists / CNC: drawing reading, tolerances, setup explanation, sometimes a machine task.
- Construction trades: practical task (formwork, rebar, tiling, pipe fitting) to the employer's specification.
How to prepare
- Read the job post again — the test follows the requirements written there
- Practice the exact process/position/task in the days before
- Arrive rested, on time, with your own PPE if you have it
- Bring proof: photos and videos of your real work, certificates, valid passport
- Prepare a short English self-introduction — the employer will talk to you before and after the test
After the test
The employer makes the selection — usually within days to a couple of weeks. If you are not selected, it is not the end: new campaigns run constantly, and you may re-apply for positions that match your skills.
